Bird Doodles

Here's some bird doodles that I thought would look nice painted up.  It also gave me an opportunity to research different bird species, for color and feather patterns.  Honestly, I wasn't thinking about it when I drew them, and was merely playing with shapes.

I'm interested if anybody can recognize every bird specie here.  In fact let's make a contest of it,  First person to correctly name every bird here wins a chicken dinner on me.

I had an unbelievably awesome, jam packed weekend and today marks the beginning of a twelve week character design workshop with the ever talented Chris Sasaki.  Bring it on, I say!

WW Sketchcrawl #35

Yesterday I partook in the 35th World Wide Sketchcrawl. We spent a gorgeous day canoodling around North Beach, soaking in the warm weather and bustling crowds from Washington Square Park down to the Wharf.  I always have a blast doing these things; can't wait for the next one!

Cherry Blossom Festival!

Yesterday I went to Japan town for the Cherry Blossom Festival and had a blast.  I also decided to face my fear of paint and broke out the water colors.  Here's some of the sketches:

 Cherry Blossom Festival was tons of fun with lots of cool sights and people to draw, good company and spectacular weather.  Truth be told, I didn't actually get that much drawing done mostly because I was too busy doing this:

Here's an animated doodle I did at work.  I'm not entirely happy with how much aliasing there is in the gif.  Still trying to figure out how to get the smoothest quality out of these things.

I got a little tired of drawing heads and upper bodies on the bus so I switched things up and decided to draw legs and feet instead.

 

Umbrellas

Since it's raining I thought this was appropriate.  Here are some sketches of the various umbrellas I saw yesterday.  I took great liberties when coloring them, since most of them were actually black.
